Got this in the mail yesterday from REM HQ. First of all, imagine if this band had quit before the internet age? I would’ve found out via MTV, or if I had somehow missed that, a newsletter. Weird.
More importantly, this made me realize that all of two weeks before the announcement, I re-upped my Fan Club membership for another year. Whoops. Here’s hoping the 2011 (and final) Christmas package) is a doozy.

Here’s Why I’m Totally Okay With Starz Canceling Party Down
Don’t get it twisted, I’m sad, too. I’ll miss everyone on the show (except for J.K. Simmons’ totally overrated and totally terrible performance as Hollywood blowhard producer Leonard Stiltskin), really, I will! But, as I wrote over at Best Week Ever, it all comes down to this:
Henry Pollard:Party Down :: Sam  Malone:Cheers

I’m happy/sad it’s canceled. I’d love to see more, but I totally adore shows that live a short-but-near-perfect life, only to catch on with a wider audience much later. And people will find Party Down, because it’s top-notch in every possible way.
